The sun was setting outside, a red smear against a thin white slick of clouds, like scum on a pond. UPDATE: It took so long to get to sleep last night that I woke up at 4PM. I’ll leave the traps for tonight but if we haven’t got anywhere by tomorrow I’m gonna have to try something else. How does a house with so many cats have mice? I have to make sure the cats don’t get in whenever I leave the room, which isn’t all that often but still. I forgot to buy cheese so I baited them with broken up Oreos and bits of ham. ![]() They only had those traditional spring ones like in Tom and Jerry, and I didn’t realise how sharp they were, or how fast they sprung. I just sort of put them everywhere, and I worry I’m going to step on one, or that if I don’t none of the cats will. I don’t like having so many traps set up in my room. When I woke up at noon none of them had sprung and I could still hear the mouse moving about in the wall, just behind my head, gnawing away at the bricks. UPDATE: So I set up some traps last night before I went to sleep, just in my room though, not through the rest of the house. What sort of traps should I get? I don’t really care about it being humane. I don’t want to call in a pest control guy because I don’t want him to go through my stuff. I moved the bed and had a look and I can’t see any holes or droppings or anything, though the carpet’s pretty dirty so it’s hard to tell. I was lying in bed until four last night, just lying there, listening to it chew away. ![]() When I was a kid we had guinea pigs and it sounds just like they did when they’d chew on the walls of their cage, you can hear its little rodent teeth just gnawing away – gnawing gnawing gnawing. Does anyone know how to deal with mice? Or rats? I’m not sure which it is but I can hear one in the skirting board behind my head when I’m trying to sleep, scampering about, chewing on the wood and the plasterboard and whatever else is in there.
